Home and Away's Ada Nicodemou reveals why she was never tempted by global fame

‘I never chased the Hollywood dream’: Home and Away’s Ada Nicodemou reveals why she was never tempted by global fame and admits to telling Chris Hemsworth to ‘not get his hopes up’

Ada Nicodemou has been a star on soap Home And Away since 2000 – despite originally signing on for a short 13-week contract.

While the actress claims she ‘never chased the Hollywood dream’, she admits it may have been because she was ‘scared’ of not making it.

Speaking to Sunday’s Stellar, Ada said she once told former co-star Chris Hemsworth to ‘not get his hopes up’ when he left Australia in search for his big break.

Ada said she warned Chris at the time: ‘You might not make it… so don’t get your hopes up!’

Chris finished up on Home And Away in 2007, after three years on the show, and went on to score his iconic role as Thor in 2011.

He has gone on to earn millions through the Thor and The Avengers franchises. In between filming he is based in Byron Bay with his Spanish actress wife Elsa Pataky and their three children.

The hunky superhero was not the only of one Ada’s Home And Away co-stars-turned-alumni to make it big during her time on the soap.

Isabel Lucas, Luke Mitchell, Tammin Sursok, Melissa George, and Ryan Kwanten are all among stars of the soap who have become household names overseas.

For Ada, she told the publication she never felt seduced by the allure of Hollywood for one major reason.

‘I always wanted to bring up children here. I always wanted to be a mum. I never chased the Hollywood dream,’ she said, as a mother to seven-year-old son Johnas.

‘Although now I reassess and go, “Was it because I was scared that I wasn't going to make it?” But I don't want to go waiting on tables. It doesn't interest me. I am really happy with where I am at.’

She will return to Home And Away in 2020 as character Leah Patterson.
